The Diagnostic Assessment (DA) session, is often referred to as an Intake session. These sessions are typically completed one to two times per year (at the first visit & again on an annual basis; per certain insurance’s expectancy for use of mental health benefits), & are approximately 55-60 minutes in length. Both the intake assessment & diagnostics are required by Professional Licensing Boards, & State regulated guidelines; as well as by insurance carriers, for clients who are intending to use their mental health benefits on therapy services rendered. Private, or self-pay, services still require completion of a DA/Intake, per the Professional’s Board & State expectations.
